"Hawker are one of the best cover bands Ottawa has ever seen - they are truly remarkable."
- My Mum -
HAWKER is a covers band from Ottawa, playing the best rock music old and new. With a lead vocalist originally from England the band has a very British feel including songs from Muse, Radiohead,, Bowie, The Clash, Feeder, and The Beatles however, with a love for all things rock, so no country is off the table.
They have a large set and can accommodate most occasions, whether simply a short support slot or playing an entire evening in their own right.
HAWKER are a 4-piece band that includes Dom MacDonald on drums, Ray McNeely on bass, Ken Gollan on keyboards, guitar and vocals and Andy Shutler on guitar and vocals.
The band has a wealth of experience from playing in multiple musical groups over the last quarter of a century (and more!)
The lead singer/guitarist, Andy originally hails from England moving to Canada 11 years ago and in 2017 proudly became a Canadian Citizen. He has played in various original and cover bands including a The Sound & Vision of David Bowie, We Killed Bambi (70s punk revival), Bemused (Muse tribute), Flare (party band) and even The Abba Sensation. Most recently he performed with an Ottawa based punk band Petrov’s Dogs.
Born in Newcastle UK, Ken Gollan has been a professional musician performing in towns across England and Canada with bands Brian Plummer and the Suspects, Ice, Mutley Pooch and Out of Hand. Ken Studied music at University and plays many instruments.
Of British and Irish descent Raymond holds down the bottom end. Living locally he has played in a number of different bands from “The Loving Sound”, “Spencer Castle”, “Chucklebait” and most prominently “Brighton Rock”. He has played in skiffle bands along the way as well to fill the void. After somewhat of a sabbatical Raymond has rekindled his passion and is co-founder of the band HAWKER.
